What is going on with bamboo

March 12, 2012 by admin in Environment with 0 Comments

Bamboo is practically a grass and its background becomes from areas of the southeast United States, all parts of Asia, South America, and also from northern Australia. It’s characterized for its fast growth development, power, and hardness. For constructors, bamboo has much more strength than cement and the same strength as steel. One more characteristic of bamboo is that develops much quicker than trees.

Most of the bamboo used in the United States made in China. Some of the bamboo agricultures in China exist for centuries, and most of the universal population uses the grass and the materials constructed from grass. Bamboo is in continuous increase due to every house use materials from bamboo and that is extremely important.

What is going on with bamboo

A huge advantage of bamboo is that it can be collected without killing the plant. Ten years ago farmers destroyed wooded forest as they tried to cultivate their bamboo farms. The money those farmers received from bamboo was much more than money received from rice and other kinds of farming. But except the money profits, bamboo is  offering much less than a forest  and also it spreads very quickly and is able to occupy a forest that is close.

One more disadvantage of bamboo has to do with its construction because tree cuts and used whole but bamboo is cut into pieces and used by joined those pieces together with glue. There are great suspicions about the protection of the environment due to the chemical components used to glue and seal it and about how safe is bamboo or not.

The glue may includes formaldehyde and be dangerous to the environment and levels of strength and hardness depend from one supplier to the other. From 2005 small progress took place to guarantee that it’s safe for users or the people that construct it. For sure needs much more effort to fight those disadvantages.
