Farming spinach
Spinach is a vegetable with green color known for its high amounts of iron that give energy to human organism. Spinach also is high in vitamins A and C and have pleasure taste consumed recently or cooked. Spinach split in many types but generally there are two main types. The first type is ‘Smooth leaf’ type and the second one is ‘Savoy’ type with thicker and darker leaves. Spinach favors a well draining ground with a neutral pH higher than 6.0. Because spinach grows very fast, that’s why needs to feed it a lot. A fertilizer high in nitrogen will support produce dark and in good condition leaves. Depends of the climate, spinach sowing is able from the end of summer till the end of spring but June and July for northern hemisphere and December and January for south hemisphere are no appropriate periods for sowing because weather is very warm and hot and spinach needs cool and little cold weather to grow. But farmers may pay attention to the fact that in cold climates in heavy winter when the temperatures are too low again is not appropriate period for sowing.
Harvest can starts around 5 weeks after sowing and this will happen with the cut method. Every farmer may start harvest when decides spinach leaves grown enough according to the size they prefer. Gardeners may begin by cutting individual leaves, starting with the older, external leaves, and allowing the young internal leaves continue growing for a future harvest. The gardener is able also reduce the whole plant for a greater harvest. If the gardener cut about an inch or 2.5 cm above the crown or base of the plant, it is quite possible the plant will start growing leaves again! Because spinach is grown well in cool and cloudy climate, pests lurk because of their diseases. Therefore gardeners must organize at intervals their spinach plants so they receive appropriate air circulation and try to keep the leaves dry in the evening.
Also soy meal and fish emulsion are a correct range of biological options. Spinach needs a partly sunny and somehow cold environment as well about grown appropriately. Spinach, especially the thicker and darker leaf types of it, retain onto ground. Need a detailed wash before availing. Spinach leaves are very sensitive to ethylene gas emitted by many fruits. Farmers must not store spinach in the refrigerator together with tomatoes, melons, and apples. Spinach has the ability to be frozen for future use. After the gardener must wash the leaves soundly and permit them to dry slightly before positioning in a resealable freezer bag. Then allow cook them for about 1 minute in the microwave, on high heat. Permit to cool somewhat and put in the freezer. Best used within 4-5 months.
